Awkward Hour: Inappropriate Things That My Boss Has Said
Welcome to Awkward Hour, the newest addition to my blog! These posts will discuss those incredibly awkward real life moments that are even stranger than fiction. To kick off the segment, I'll start with the the incredibly inappropriate yet innocent comments that my socially awkward boss has said. By all means, give me your thoughts on the scenario.I work as an administrator aside from my freelance writing work. One of my bosses' is incredibly anxious and it creates a weird dynamic between the two of us. During my down time, he'll duck around the corner by my desk than disappear as soon as look over my shoulder to see what he wants. The first few times that he did that, I went into his office and asked if he had an assignment for me. "No" he said casually.
When I was still new to the office, I mentioned how friendly his father was to me whenever he called. "Your father is always so friendly and nice whenever he calls into the office" I said attempting to make conversation. "Yeah well don't be too nice to him" retorted my boss. Under any other circumstance, I would have been offended. I realized that my boss struggled with making small talk with me, so I left it at that.
The most inappropriate comment that he made occurred last month. The office supply closet is a tiny windowless space located around the corner from my desk. On the day in question, I heard the door closed but I figured one of my colleagues was taking a personal call in the room. I thought about the sound no further. A few minutes later, I heard my boss say: "Why is this door locked?" I got up from my desk and walked around the corner to help him. Literally, I twisted the handle and the door opened.
Apparently, cardboard boxes behind the door had pushed the door closed from the inside. "Gee, I thought that I was walking in on somebody" said my boss. I looked at him and made a remark about the cardboard boxes and headed to my desk. At the start of my employment, I felt as if I was the odd man out in the office. His quick around the corner Spider man moves made me feel as jumpy as him. Six months later, I realize that he's just incredibly awkward.
Is you boss odd enough to blog about? Does he pull Spiderman moves to see what you're doing even if there's nothing to do? Has you boss innocently said some off the wall things to you?

They're so awkward they're not even funny haha. I was expecting to laugh but it was so awkward even I cringed. XD
@OhItWontBeForever@xanga - Honestly, friend to friend, how should I feel about this?!?!
I am not as awkward as he is but I can be incredibly awkward, in that I just say the wrong things at the wrong time. I've also been in situations where I know what I'm doing but I just know that someone else is gonna see it differently. Like how you were saying he keeps looking round the corner, maybe there is an explanation. But the awkwardness of the situation puts him off even explaining.
I think just be casual with him and hopefully, as an awkward and probably not-very-confident person, that will build his confidence at least around you and there will be less of the awkward situations.
By no means am I promising complete zero awkward situations; there'll be situations alright, haha, but there'll be less when he realises you treat him normally.
At least that's in my view. :D
lol poor guy
His behavior is definitely strange. Not everyone given the responsibility of being a manager has the interpersonal skills required for the job. As long as his "awkward" behavior doesn't become stalker-ish then all is fine.
@Kevin Minott - Thanks for the validation. It's not just me then!??! Thanks so much for reading and commenting.
